oh man your OS professor sounds like a treat, tho not someone i would have loved when i was in uni, but im curious to know why he hated mongo db

I've heard that mongo is better these days (wouldn't know, have not paid it any attention in years), but in ~2010 when this was all happening, it was dogshit. It basically had no durability or fault-tolerance, it would do things like lie to you and say a write had completed when it never even left the client (you could get early mongo drivers to say a write was done when your wifi was disconnected and ethernet unplugged), and it justified all of this with "but it's web scale!".

At the time, BASE was new and exciting and people were kinda going off half-cocked with it, and also didn't yet know that you could have BASE without it being shitty. Sirer was being a sort of corrective market short to all the hype.

ONTEM levei meu carro para a revisão, durante anos as revisões eram na Hyundai, nunca tive sorte com o consultor técnico, o cara responsável pelo atendimento na pós-venda, agora com o Jeep o atendimento foi por um boy, acho que de todos os outros consultores técnicos que vi ali, ele é o mais interessante. A deferência dada ao cliente tira o ar de boy, imagino inclusive que sem o uniforme, camisa branca e jeans azul, ele fica muito interessante, apesar do filtro da deferência rola aquela malícia no ar, não que ele tivesse interesse, há vários grupos de héteros, num extremo temos os homofóbicos e do centrão para o outro lado temos aqueles que curtem serem apreciados, desejados, que fazem um certo joguinho porque faz bem para o ego, inclusive já conheci alguns bem ousados que na verdade querem mesmo confundida a cabaço do gay, ainda que não queiram nada. E há ainda o grupo de héteros que come viado. Há também aqueles que de tanto comer viado acabam gostando e vão ficando como popularmente se diz: meio-viado. Que eu acho que não é o caso do consultor técnico, acho que não porque não percebi nenhum avanço no sentido de criar aquela tensão sexual quem em geral se cria com um boy que está posicionado nessa escala mais para o lado do que come viado. Em outro tempo talvez eu tivesse direcionado a conversa pelo menos para dar oportunidade para ele se mostrar mais, mas atualmente tenho preguiça dessas empreitadas que já me agradaram tanto no passado. A concessionária me deu de brinde dois ingressos para ver Barbie, quando ele me entregou os ingressos quase o convidei para ir comigo ao cinema. Não, não foi quase, porque realmente não faria isso com um consultor técnico da concessionária onde faço a revisão do meu carro, não quando é a primeira vez que temos contato, talvez se já houve certa intimidade, intimidade no sentido de conhecer a mais tempo, e ainda ao me despedir ele se colocou a disposição e que é só mandar mensagem diretamente para ele, e eu respondi que espero vê-lo só ano vem, afinal, essa revisão me custo 1.500 reais. Ou será que nessa disponibilidade cordial profissional havia uma mensagem subliminar? Não estaria eu ficando cansado de caçadas, mas talvez ficando mongo e não entendo mais as deixas dos novinhos de hoje? Às vezes eu gostaria de ser mais pintoso, fervido, bandeiroso, do tipo que se joga mesmo, tipo o David Brazil, o Milton Cunha e outras bichas espevitadas que já chegam chegando... Hahaha... Delírio de sonambulismo. Daí não seria eu, sou sóbrio, denso, um libertino com ar sombrio e fatal, circunspeto...

However, Mary (Jones mother) is keen on receiving extra money from the government, so she forces her daughter Jones to pretend that she is living with Mongo. This way, she manages to get some more welfare money from the government. And she was just a naive sixteen years old girl (Sukhdev, 2010). C. Reason for referral (Presenting Problem) 1. Source of referral Jones was referred to the new school by her former principal. Arguably, the new school helped her get the help she needed to get over her abuse 2. Reason for referral to agency at this time Jones’ studies were temporarily interrupted after she became pregnant for the second time. When her principal discovered that she referred Jones to another school which she believed would be better for her while she was pregnant. She wanted Jones to continue with her studies regardless of her state but in an environment that would not make her feel rejected. 3. Client's understanding of the problem Jones is a young girl who may not really understand why she is being abused by her parents. Arguably, Jones is in a make or break scenario. An individual could breakdown under the pressure and take drastic decisions including suicide attempts. However, an individual that is exposed to this kind of scenarios can also rise up and come out strong against all odds (Patino-Fernandez et al., 2006). Inspiration and resolution are the main reasons why some people rise from ashes and make something good come out of their circumstances irrespective of their dark past. This is the path that Precious chooses. It is important for the medic to help the patient walk towards this path and even recommend therapy if need be. 4. Cultural and non-Western views of the problem Rape and child abuse are both strongly and widely condemned across all societies. Rape is one of the worst things that could happen to anyone and it is even worse when it is done by a relative (Fisher, 2009). 5. Other difficulties associated with the problem Jones has gone through enough peril as a victim of her father’s sexual abuse. Apart from the sexual harassment from her father, Jones also suffered physical, verbal, and mental abuse from the dysfunctional stay at home of her mother. 6. Previous efforts to deal with the problem Jones was lucky to have a school principal that went to the trouble of finding out why she had stopped attending school. On realizing that she was expecting her second child, the principal decides to get the girl to a school that could be of help to her. It is this decision that ultimately changes the life of Jones, as she becomes a precious girl once again. However, she still continues living in the same house and is susceptible to further abuse. The nice principal followed by the good teacher and helpful social worker as well as the friendly nurse each played a very special role towards the emancipation of Precious from her state. This can be seen clearly when her mother drops her new born baby and she fights back for the very first time against her brutality and even masters the courage to run away from her. This time she goes away permanently and takes her son with her. For lack of anywhere to run, she decides to go to the school where the teacher found her and intervened by organizing an accommodation for her. This way, she lives well, takes care of her son, and still continues with her education while at it. You would think that her life is back on the right track, but just then her mother resurfaces with some news: her father is dead. He died of HIV. She later finds out that she had been infected too but luckily her son had not. D. Physical and Economic Environment Precious Jones lived with her parents in section eight tenement. She obviously came from a very poor family since they relied on welfare all year round for their food and clothing as well as other needs. In fact, Mongo had to be taken care of by her grandmother since they could not afford it. ChartBrew

BI tools are softwares that take huge amounts of data from all kinds of sources and process them to produce charts and graphs and other different types of visual media for easy understanding. There are many BI tools available on the market, both proprietary and open source, and one such tool is ChartBrew.

ChartBrew is an open source tool freely available to use. It’s licensed under MIT that means we can also modify it according to our needs. Chartbrew is a web based software,  written in JavaScript. React is used to create the frontend and Node.Js framework for backend. 

Features

Let’s talk about the features offered in this tool. ChartBrew supports various data sources including major databases like MongoDB, MySql, and analytics sources such as Google, Simple, Plausible. It also has support for REST API giving us the opportunity to create a custom data source if needed.

ChartBrew has a query editor to write queries to our data sources giving us more freedom in fetching data in the shape of our need. Now with the data we can create different kinds of charts and graphs and also KPIs. These charts can be set to auto update themselves, meaning they will keep fetching data from source at regular intervals and present updated information.

Next ChartBrew provides the means to embed these charts as iframes wherever needed. If we don’t want to embed charts but just want to view them, we can create a public dashboard in it, which gives us a public facing URL, accessible from anywhere.

Installation

Now let’s install it and check it out. First clone the repo:

git clone git@github.com:chartbrew/chartbrew.git

Next go to the chartbrew directory and run:

npm run setup

ChartBrew also requires mysql. So install that if you don’t already have it. Create a ‘chartbrewdev’ name database and then add the db username and password to the .env file, namely CB_DB_USERNAME_DEV and CB_DB_PASSWORD_DEV variables.

And finally start it by running:

npm run client 

for frontend, and for backend,

npm run server

Creating a Project

Let’s give it the name ‘BI Tools’.

Now we create a connection i.e., we choose our data source. I’m choosing MongoDB.

Fill in the usual db details for creating a db connection, test it and then save it.

Creating a Chart

Now we create a chart, first choose the chart name and click ‘Start Editing’. You can then follow the small walkthrough explaining what is what.

Now we are at the chart builder page. For our chart we need to create a dataset, so click on ‘Add the first dataset’ button choose the dataset name, save it and then select the datasource. I chose MongoDB before and saved the connections by ‘mongo-source’ name so I can see that in the list and I select it.

Now click on the ‘Make Request’ button, this will open the query editor and again a little walkthrough. In my database there is a collection ‘blogs’ which store details regarding a blog such as ‘title’, ‘author’, ‘likes’, and ‘comments’. So my query is:

On clicking ��Test the query’, query’s response is displayed on the right side:

Next I save the query for future usage and click on the ‘Build the chart’ button. Then the chart builder page will open again, and now we choose what data should appear on the chart’s X and Y axis. I want to know t he number of likes on each blog so I choose ‘title’ for X-axis and ‘likes’ for Y-axis. And voila, our chart is ready!

As we can see there are other chart options we can choose from such as bar chart, pie chart, polar chart etc. There are some other features available here too like adding filters, modifying axis data, changing colors used on charts, exporting data to excel sheets. 

Embedding Charts
